KWALA INDUSTRIAL PARK POSITIONED AS A STRATEGIC HUB FOR INDUSTRIAL GROWTH
Hon. Prof. Kitila Mkumbo (MP), Minister of State in the President’s Office for Planning and Investment, led a delegation of ministers and permanent secretaries from five ministries, together with regional leaders from the Coast Region, on a working visit to Kwala Industrial Park (KIP) in Kibaha District.
The purpose of the visit was to assess the progress of the industrial park, engage with investors on the challenges they face, and fast-track the implementation of ongoing projects in line with the National Development Vision 2050.
During the visit, the Minister underscored that KIP is one of the 34 industrial parks registered under TISEZA and serves as a strategic hub for industrial development and investment attraction in Tanzania.
Addressing infrastructure challenges, the Government committed to ensuring the supply of 40 MW of electricity to the park. In addition, an emergency directive was issued to drill a borehole to address immediate water needs, while preparations are underway for a long-term public–private partnership water project valued at TZS 25 billion.
