Tanzania – Qatar to Collaborate on Economic Opportunities*

On August 27, 2025, the Government of Tanzania received a delegation from the State of Qatar aimed at discussing and establishing cooperation on various investment opportunities between the two countries. The delegation engaged with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, the President’s Office – Planning and Investment, as well as the Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA).

Speaking at the meeting, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Hon. David Chumi, emphasized the importance of this cooperation, stating that Tanzania will leverage investor opportunities to boost its economy.
On his part, Hon. Stanslaus Nyongo, Deputy Minister of State – Planning and Investment, said the visit was a result of efforts by the President of Tanzania, H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, to attract investors who will collaborate with Tanzanians in developing available opportunities.

Speaking on behalf of the Director General of TISEZA, Mr. Gilead Teri, the Director of Facilitation, Mr. James Maziku, said the arrival of the delegation opened discussions that will continue until agreements are reached. He stated that the delegation had shown interest in collaborating with Tanzania in various sectors, including infrastructure development, agriculture, livestock, mining, and various construction raw materials.
