Tanzania Unveils Five Strategic Special Economic Zones to Propel Industrial Growth.
Dar es Salaam, 12 August 2025 – The Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA) has launched five Strategic Special Economic Zones (SEZs) to position Tanzania as a leading industrial and investment hub in Africa.
The zones include Nala SEZ (607 ha), Kwala SEZ (40.5 ha), Buzwagi SEZ (1,333 ha), Bagamoyo Eco Maritime City – Phase I (151 ha), and the Benjamin William Mkapa SEZ (Expansion) (13,000 m²).
Minister of State, Hon. Prof. Kitila A. Mkumbo, said the Government is integrating SEZs with major infrastructure such as the SGR, JNHPP, ports, and airports to drive industrial growth. Permanent Secretary Dr. Tausi Kida emphasized the role of SEZs in creating jobs, boosting exports, and enabling technology transfer.
TISEZA Director General Mr. Gilead Teri invited local and international investors to establish manufacturing industries in Tanzania, noting the availability of free industrial plots and competitive incentives.
The SEZs are expected to generate thousands of jobs, expand exports, reduce imports, and introduce advanced manufacturing technologies.
